ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's soccer hosted nationally ranked Johns Hopkins on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays took home the victory after jumping out to an early lead.

How it Happened
- The Blue Jays did not waste time to take an early lead, as Juliana Taxter found the back of the net on an assist by Maria Romo-Nichols from the corner in the fifth minute.
- Taxter netted her second goal of the game less than 30 seconds from her first goal to put Johns Hopkins up 2-0 early.
- The Yellow Jackets cut the lead in half in the 19th minute, when Riley Russ (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) found Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) in the box for RMCs first goal of the game.
- Johns Hopkins added two late first-half goals by Ava Venuti and Natalie Smith to push its lead to 4-1 to go into the halftime break.
- The biggest lead of the game for the Blue Jays came in the 60th minute on a Katie Sullivan cross into the box that found Sophia Stone to extend the lead to 5-1.
- Sammie Hoefs (New Market, Md./Linganore) scored her first goal of the season on a Randolph-Macon penalty kick in the 64th minute to end the scoring in the match.
