Moodie's OT Tally Pushes RMC Field Hockey Past Blazers

Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – Courtney Moodie (Hummelstown, PA/Hershey) cashed in on overtime winner as Randolph-Macon field hockey prevailed over Hood College Saturday night to earn their first win of the season.

How it Happened
  • The Yellow Jackets came out in the first quarter strong, earning two penalty corners and getting four shots off, but came up empty to keep the score knotted at zero after one frame.
  • RMC continued to apply pressure throughout the second stanza. Alaina McCoy (Frederickburg, Va./Stafford) lit up the scoreboard with the opening goal with 22 seconds remaining in the half, sending RMC into the break with the lead.
  • Both defenses stood strong in the third quarter, with no shots being put on goal for either team. RMC held their 1-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
  • In the opening minutes of the final frame, Hood got on the board with the equalizing goal that would ultimately send the game to overtime. A flurry of chances for the Yellow Jackets proved unsuccessful keeping the score 1-1 at the end of regulation.
  • In the extended period, Courtney Moodie sent the Yellow Jackets home with a 2-1 victory over the Blazers with a goal nearly three minutes into overtime.

  • McCoy's second quarter tally was her first of the year. She led the Yellow Jackets with eight scores a year ago.
  • Courtney Moodie notched her first career goal as the game-winner in overtime.
  • The Lemon and Black earned ten penalty corners on the evening, and posting 14 shots on goal to continuously apply offensive pressure on the Blazers defense. RMC outshot 19-4 overall, and 14-1 on goal.
