ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Field Hockey dropped a home contest to St. Mary's (Md.) in their first home game since Sept.1 on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
- The Yellow Jackets showed promise early, earning a penalty corner in the first quarter but couldn't cash in. The Seahawks returned the favor with a corner of their own. Their lone shot went wide but they did get one on goal later in the quarter which was saved.
- In a high paced second quarter, the teams combined for eight shots and each goalie saved two shots but SMCM netted two goals in the frame, coming within two minutes of each other. The Seahawks led 2-0 heading into the half.
- The entire second half was continuously high-paced as both teams traded chances but both defenses and goalies held strong to keep the score locked at 2-0 for the remainder.
Inside the Numbers
- Alaina McCoy (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) led the Yellow Jackets offense with two shots on goal.
- Irish Azama (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) made a key defensive save in the second half to keep RMC within reach.
- Reigning ODAC Player of the Week Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) had four saves in goal.
