FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's soccer team opened up the 2023 regular season on the road against The University of Mary Washington on Friday afternoon. The Eagles only scored once, but that's all they needed to secure a 1-0 win over the Yellow Jackets.

How it Happened
- The Eagles didn't waste time to get on the scoreboard to start the 2023 season. Reagan Boyer netted a goal for UMW in the sixth minute of the game, the assist was credited to Maci Landel for a 1-0 lead.
- Mary Washington dominated the possession battle in the first half, but the Yellow Jacket back line of Anna Turk, Kelly Rogers, Abigail Pesut and Charlotte Bradshaw stood tall to keep RMC within a goal going into halftime.
- In the second half, neither team was able to find a consistent offensive attack, totally only two shots on goal. The Lemon and Black had an opportunity to tie the game up in the 80th minute as Maddie Stubblefield had an opportunity to score, it was saved by the Eagles Sydney Alexander.
