ASHLAND, Va. – Mia Kuhnle (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) notched the season-opening goal for Randolph-Macon Field Hockey in a 2-1 loss to McDaniel on Friday night.

How it Happened
- The Yellow Jackets opened the game quick, earning a penalty corner in the opening minutes of the first quarter but couldn't cash in. Both defenses held strong the rest of the opening frame with neither side surrendering a goal.
- RMC got on the board first as Mia Kuhnle took a pass from Cali Kujawa (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) to knock in the first goal of the year for the Lemon and Black. McDaniel, however, scored two goals in 1:01 to take the lead into the half, 2-1.
- Both defenses locked back into form in the third quarter. Neither team could light up the scoreboard sending the game to the fourth frame, still 2-1.
- A flurry of chances for the Yellow Jackets late threatened the Green Terror. RMC was awarded two penalty corners down the stretch that McDaniel held strong on to steal a win.

- Mia Kuhnle punched in the first goal of the season for RMC, her ninth career goal. She had three goals last year and five goals the year before.
- Cali Kujawa dished out her first assist of her young career, setting up Kuhnle for the goal in the second quarter.
