ASHLAND, Va. - Grace Bakeman '23, was named Champion in the Introductory division at IHSA's Zone 4 finals held at Goucher College on April 1. Bakeman will represent Randolph-Macon at IHSA National Championships in Lexington, Ky., May 4-7, 2023.
"This is such an incredible accomplishment," commented head coach John West. "Zone 4 is arguably the most competitive in the country, encompassing schools in NC, VA, MD, DE, PA and NJ. This means we are competing against some of the country's oldest and most well-known IHSA programs. Grace has ridden with such consistency all year and that hard work has paid off."
"It's so hard to believe," Bakeman said. "I came to Randolph-Macon with no riding experience, so to be heading to Nationals in my last semester here is just amazing! John and this team have been such a positive part of my experience at RMC and I look forward to representing the YJs on the national stage."
