ASHLAND, Va. - The Randolph-Macon IHSA team was recognized this past weekend at Zone 4, Region 4 finals as Reserve High Point Team for the 2022-2023 year, and Alyssa Roberts was named Cachionne Cup Rider, as the Open rider with the highest number of points for the year. Roberts, a junior from Virginia Beach, will represent Region 4 at Zone Finals in April at Goucher College and vie for the National Cachionne Cup title.
RMC also tied Sweet Briar College for the highest number of team members qualified for Region Finals. The Yellow Jackets sent six riders to the competition, which was held at Liberty University on Saturday, February 25. Alyssa Roberts placed first in her Open Fences class, Grace Bakeman placed first in the Intro division and Bailey Moriarty was second in Limit Over Fences, propelling all three to the upcoming Zone Finals. Seniors Caroline Allen and Rebecca Faletti, along with freshman Karsyn Mason, represented RMC well with stellar performances in very competitive divisions.
"One of the most exciting things about this year's team is the quality of riders we have in every class," commented Head Coach John West. "To have riders from every class qualify for Region Finals and perform so well speaks to the bright future of this team."
