Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team hosted ODAC foe Guilford for a conference matchup in Ashland on Saturday afternoon. RMC used a big first half to down the Quakers for their third straight win, 22-10.

How It Happened
- The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 2-0 lead after Jamie Smith (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) netted the first goal of the game. Guilford came back with a goal of their own but the Yellow Jackets poured it on for the remainder of the quarter. Seven different RMC players scored in a 7-0 run for the Lemon and Black to end the quarter leading 9-2.
- Austin Payne (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albermarle) completed his hat trick with two straight goals to begin the second quarter. RMC netted three more goals to cap off a 12-0 run for the Yellow Jackets. Guilford added another goal and Austin Payne scored his fourth ahead of halftime as RMC led 16-2 at the break.
- The Yellow Jackets started the second half by scoring two straight goals to extend the lead to 18-2, but Guilford picked up two straight themselves to cut the lead. At the end of three quarters, RMC led 19-4.
- RMC added another three goals to begin the fourth, two by Matthew Sutty (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum) to extend the lead further. Guilford showed life for the remainder of the game, netting the final six goals to cut the lead to 22-10 but RMC closed out the win to win their third straight game.
By The Numbers:
- Austin Payne led the way with four goals, while also having an assist. Payne also led the team with five ground balls in the game.
- 17 Yellow Jackets scored in the game, surpassing their previous high that they set in the win over Randolph last Saturday.
- Jack Smith (Stevensville, Md./DeMatha) tallied six points in the game with two goals and four assists.
- RMC had the ground ball advantage, 44-30, over the Quakers.
- The Yellow Jackets also went 23-24 on clears and turned the ball over just 13 times compared to Guilford's 30.
