Game Recap: Field Hockey |

McCoy Scores Twice in 4-1 Win over EMU

ASHLAND, Va. – Alaina McCoy (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) notched two first-half goals to propel RMC Field Hockey to a Thursday night win over EMU.
Score:  Randolph-Macon 4, EMU 1
Location/Venue: Ashland, Va./Randolph-Macon College/Nunnally Field
Records: Randolph-Macon (7-5, 3-2 ODAC), EMU (3-9, 0-4 ODAC)
How it Happened
  • Randolph-Macon got on the board first with a deflection goal by Alaina McCoy off a penalty corner just three and a half minutes into the game. Three minutes later, a penalty stroke was awarded to the Royals and cashed in to knot the score at one.
  • RMC had a lot of strong scoring chances in the second quarter, but the Royals' goalie continuously made difficult saves to keep the score at one until the final minute when McCoy netted her second goal of the game to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
  • Cali Kujawa (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) extended the lead further in the opening minutes of the second half. EMU then grabbed momentum with a pair of penalty corners, but the Yellow Jackets were able to score again off the stick of Emma Landis (Annandale, N.J./West Johnston) to make the score 4-1 heading into the fourth.
  • The fourth quarter was relatively even, as neither team could grab a goal. RMC rode their 4-1 lead through the quarter to grab their third ODAC win.
Inside the Numbers

  • Anna Stribling (Annandale, Va./W.T. Woodson) assisted on McCoy and Kujawa's goal for her fifth and sixth assists on the year.
