- The R-MC defense held strong in the first quarter of play, surrendering three shots, but kept the game scoreless.
- The Seahawks did their damage in the second quarter, tallying two goals before the halftime break to take the lead.
- The Yellow Jackets battled in the third quarter, tying the shot count three to three but couldn't get past the SMCM goalkeeper.
- The second half remained scoreless as freshman goalkeeper Cathryn Short (Henrico, Va./Saint Catherine's) notched three saves in the final period to keep the deficit at two.

- Short saved six of the eight shots on goal that she faced in her first career start in the cage.
- Freshman forward Lynn Giesken (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) and sophomore forward Mia Kuhnle (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) led the way with a shot on goal each.
- Sophomore defender Anna Scheir (Fallston, Md./Fallston) added a defensive save in the contest.
