Box Score (SALEM, Va.) – The bid for a second ODAC Tournament championship came up short as No. 13 Randolph-Macon fell in extra innings to No. 24 Lynchburg. It was a battle between the two top teams from the regular season as the second-seeded Yellow Jackets and top-seeded Hornets finished first at the end of the regular season.

How It Happened
- Lynchburg had the upper hand early as it scored one run in the first and two more in the second for a quick 3-0 lead. R-MC was able to get those runs back with a big third inning. With the bases loaded, Kayla Davis (Fr., Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) brought in the first run as she was hit by a pitch which scored Amanda Lanyon (Fr., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) who started the rally with a single to center.
- Naomi Sadler (Fr., Emporia, Va. / Brunswick) scored the second run as she took advantage of an error by the shortstop during Olivia Owens' (So., Salisbury, Md. / James M. Bennett) at-bat. With the bases still loaded Natalie Robinson (Jr., Woodbridge, Va. / Forest Park) tied the game on a fielder's choice that scored Rilee Baughan (Jr., Warsaw, Va. / Rappahannock) who walked earlier in the inning.
- The score remained 3-3 until the sixth when the Lemon and Black took the lead on a Sierra Livingston (So., Dagsboro, Del. / Sussex Tech) single to right that scored Gracie Ellis (Fr., New Kent, Va. / New Kent). Ellis raced around from first after singling to left just before Livingston.
- Unfortunately the lead didn't last long as Lynchburg homered in the bottom of the seventh to send it to extras. After a scoreless eighth the Jackets had an opportunity to regain the lead in the ninth, but a runner was left on third base. With one out in the ninth, Lynchburg singled in the winning run for the walk-off.
Inside The Numbers
- Ellis took the tough-luck loss to fall to 19-5 on the season. She still played an incredible game with 10 strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs. She now has 212 strikeouts on the season.
- Ellis got the job done from the plate as well as she was 3-for-3 with a run scored on the day.
- Lanyon and Sadler both concluded impressive tournament debuts as they both pounded out eight hits through four games.
