ASHLAND, Va. -- The Randolph-Macon men's swimming team took the road to Farmville, Virginia for a meet against ODAC foe Hampden-Sydney on Friday night. R-MC won nine events to take the win, 107-79.
In the two relay events, R-MC took the top spot in both. They won the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:19.71 thanks to the team of Jacob Wills (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca), Ryan Deavers (Broadway, Va./Broadway), Aidan Campbell (Newport News, Va./Warwick), and Ben Pastva (Fairfax, Va./Robinson).
The other relay event that R-MC won was the 200 free relay. That team of Campbell, Wills, Liam McEneaney (Suffolk, Va./Home School), and Sebastian Florez (Richmond, Va./JR Tucker) finished in 1:45.44 to grab another win.
Individually, the group won seven events, as Florez and Evan Fannin (Hayes, Va./Christchurch) each won two. Florez and Fannin shared first in the 200 free, as they both finished in 2:09.16. Florez also took first in the 400 free, with a time of 4:41.17. Fannin finished first in the 100 free in 58 seconds flat.
Pastva also was first in the 50 free, with a strong time of 25.14. Carter Bingman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) picked up a first-place finish in the 200 fly, beating out his teammate, Campbell, to finish in 2:31.38.
Wills and Deavers round out the wins for R-MC, as Wills posted first in the 100 back in 1:04.10, and Deavers won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.80.
Other strong finishes include Bingman taking second in the 800 free, Ben Sallade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) grabbing third in the 200 IM, and Matthew Appleton (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponox) finishing third in the 800 free.
R-MC hosts the Arena Yellow Jacket Invitational December 3-4 in Chesterfield, Va. as their next event.
