Jackets Down Vixens In Field Hockey

Box Score

(ASHLAND, Va.) –. Traffic couldn't stop Randolph-Macon from winning its third straight contest in ODAC field hockey action against Sweet Briar Wednesday evening. The game was delayed after traffic did prevent the Yellow Jackets from arriving in time for the game, but the offense was still able to score four goals for a third consecutive game.

The Basics

Score: Randolph-Macon 4 Sweet Briar 0

Venue: Amherst High School

Records: Randolph-Macon 7-5, 2-1 ODAC; Sweet Briar 8-4, 3-1

How It Happened

  • After a scoreless first quarter Maria-Teresa Ambrogi-Torres (Sr., Richmond, Va. / Trinity) eventually lit up the scoreboard five minutes into the second. Catherine Magill (Jr., Moseley, Va. / Trinity) provided the entry pass at the top of the circle and Ambrogi-Torres was able to deflect it into the goal.
  • Just before the half Alaina McCoy (Fr., Fredericksburg, Va. / Stafford) received a pass from Mia Kuhnle (Fr., Yorktown, Va. / Tabb) and beat the goalie high for the 2-0 lead.
  • The Yellow Jackets added two more in the third. Summer Kujawa (Jr., Hampton, Va. / Kecoughtan) took a centering pass from Ambrogi-Torres and did a spin move to get the third goal. Kuhnle scored the fourth in similar fashion after she took control of a loose ball in front of the keeper late in the fame.

Inside The Numbers

  • The Yellow Jackets outshot the Vixens 25-5 in the contest and held the hosts without a single attempt in the first half.
  • Gatlin Snyder (Sr., Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) recorded her third shutout of the season and the team's fifth with two saves, one in each quarter in the second half.
  • McCoy has now scored four goals in her last three contests and has eight on the season.
  • Kuhnle and Kujawa are both on three-game point streaks. Kuhnle has scored a goal in each of the last three games and added assists in two of them. Kujawa has goals in each of the last two games and assists in the two games prior to tonight.
