Seligman, Nicholas Score for R-MC Field Hockey at Roanoke

SALEM, Va. – Seniors Skyler Seligman (Norfolk, Va./Granby) and Kaitee Nicholas (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) each had one goal and one assist as the Randolph-Macon field hockey team opened ODAC play with a 5-2 loss at Roanoke on Saturday afternoon.

Neither team was able to score in the first half. The Maroons had a 9-5 advantage in shots and 9-1 advantage in penalty corners, but the game was scoreless at intermission.

Roanoke scored 42 seconds into the second half and built a 5-0 advantage. Seligman scored in the 66th minute on a cross from Nicholas to make it 5-1.Nicholas tallied a goal with one second left in the game off an assist by Seligman to make the final 5-2.

Senior Julia Bowling (Charlotte Hall, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) paced the Yellow Jackets with four shots, including three on goal. Nicholas and freshman Lauren Petty (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) both had three shots for R-MC.

Junior Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, Va./Louisa County) had 10 saves for the Yellow Jackets.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 with a 7 p.m. ODAC contest at Bridgewater.
