Schnell Wins ODAC Scholar-Athlete Award for Women's Lacrosse, Seven Earn All-ODAC Honors

FOREST, Va. – Senior defender Natalie Schnell (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) received the ODAC Scholar-Athlete Award for women's lacrosse and was voted All-ODAC First Team as the conference released its post-season honors.

Senior attack Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) joined Schnell and sophomore midfielder Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and sophomore attack Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./Woodson) on the All-ODAC First Team. Senior defender Tricia Mangas (Chantilly, Va./Paul VI) and junior midfielder Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) were voted to the All-ODAC Second Team. Senior midfielder Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) was named to the All-ODAC Third Team.

Schnell is a History major with an English minor. She has a cumulative grade point average of 3.70 and was recently inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Schnell was also inducted into Sigma Tau Delta and received the history department's Russell B. DeVine Award as well as the Phi Beta Kappa Douglas W. Ford Award. Schnell was named to the ODAC All-Academic Team, the VaSID Academic All-State Team and the NCAA Division III All-Academic Team. Schnell started all 18 games on defense this season and is second on the team with 17 caused turnovers. She is fifth on the team with 22 ground balls. A season ago, Schnell was First Team All-ODAC, Second Team All-Region and Second Team All-State.

Jamieson is third on the team and ninth in the ODAC in points with 57. She is one of three players in the league to have at least 24 goals and at least 24 assists. Jamieson is second on the team and seventh in the conference with 24 assists. She is second on the team and 15th in the ODAC with 33 goals. Jamieson leads the Yellow Jackets and is second in the league with 14 free position goals. She matched season highs with four goals and six points in an ODAC Tournament semifinal win over Lynchburg. Jamieson was an ODAC Player of the Week a season ago and was All-ODAC Third Team as a sophomore.

Hsieh leads the ODAC and is eighth in the country in goals with 74. It is the second-highest total in program history, trailing only 91 goals by Erin Reidy in 2002. She twice scored eight goals in a game, tying the program record for goals in a contest. Hsieh started all 18 games and amassed 83 points, the second-highest total in the league. Hsieh was third on the team and 13th in the ODAC with 46 draw controls. As a freshman, Hsieh was Second Team All-ODAC, Second Team All-State and was named to the ODAC All-Tournament Team. She was also named to the ODAC All-Academic Team.

Lightfoot is second in the nation with 59 assists and third with 3.28 assists per contest. Lightfoot had eight assists in a win at Bridgewater, tying the program record for assists in a game. She had at least one assist in 16 of 18 contests. Lightfoot started all 18 games and is second on the team and fifth in the ODAC with 70 points. Lightfoot was Second Team All-ODAC as a freshman.

Mangas appeared in all 18 games this season on defense for the Yellow Jackets with 15 starts. A four-year starter, Mangas leads the team with 20 caused turnovers. She had a season-high three caused turnovers in wins over Washington College, Virginia Wesleyan and Bridgewater. Mangas also recorded 16 ground balls. A season ago, Mangas was named to the ODAC All-Academic Team.

Snee was named Second Team All-ODAC after earning Third Team honors each of her first two seasons. Snee leads the team with 73 draw controls, the fourth-highest total in program history. She had a season-high 10 draw controls in a 16-8 win over Shenandoah, the fourth-highest total in program history. Snee also leads the Yellow Jackets with 42 ground balls. Snee is third on the team with 28 goals and fifth with 32 points. Snee made the ODAC All-Tournament Team as a sophomore and was ODAC Rookie of the Year two seasons ago as well as a member of the ODAC All-Academic Team.

Whitman appeared in 12 games with 10 starts, but missed six games due to injury. She is second on the team with 55 draw controls and is the R-MC career leader with 374, more than 200 ahead of the second-place total of 173. Whitman had 13 draw controls in an 18-13 victory over Susquehanna, matching the second-highest total in program history. Whitman is fifth on the team with 20 goals and sixth with 24 points. A four-year starter for the Yellow Jackets, Whitman was First Team All-ODAC each of the past two seasons. She was First Team All-Region as a junior after being Second Team All-Region two years ago. Whitman was First Team All-State in 2015, and in 2014 was a member of the ODAC All-Tournament Team and ODAC All-Academic Team.

Under third-year head coach MK Geratowski, the Yellow Jackets went 12-6 overall and 8-1 in the ODAC. R-MC reached the ODAC Championship Game for the second consecutive season.
