Jamieson Records Five Assists as R-MC Women's Lacrosse Handles HU 23-2

ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) recorded five assists as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team defeated Hollins 23-2 in ODAC action Saturday afternoon at Day Field.

The Yellow Jackets (5-3, 2-0 ODAC) had 13 different players score. The leaders with three goals were senior Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney), sophomore Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and freshmen Hannah Makepeace (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft) and Saunders Riley (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford).

R-MC dominated the first half in taking a 15-0 lead. Hsieh scored two of the game's first three goals, followed by a pair from Russo. Senior Alyssa Chavez (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) had two of the final three scores of the period.

The Yellow Jackets would outscore Hollins (0-10, 0-5 ODAC) 8-2 in the second half. Makepeace had two of her three goals after intermission. Freshmen sisters Hannah Jones and Rachel Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) registered goals in the second period.

Sophomore Frankie Willing (Salisbury, Md./Worcester) also had a pair of goals, while single scores were made by juniors Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) and Kristin Patrick (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake), as well as sophomores Lucy Andrews (Bethesda, Md./Johnson), Sarah Alvanos (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) and Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./Woodson).

Juniors Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) and Jessie Cornbrooks (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan) both had three assists for the Yellow Jackets. Lightfoot and Riley registered two assists, while Hsieh dished out one.

R-MC held a 20-6 advantage in draw controls. Snee paced the Yellow Jackets with six, while Dee and Alvanos grabbed three each.

The Yellow Jackets also had a 20-6 edge in ground balls. Alvanos and Dee paced the victors with three each.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, April 6 at 4 p.m. for an ODAC contest at Shenandoah.
