Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Sophomore Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) scored four goals and added two assists as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team won 18-13 at Susquehanna Wednesday afternoon.
Hsieh was one of nine Yellow Jackets (4-3) to score and one of six to tally multiple goals against the Crusaders (3-4). Junior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) added three goals for R-MC.
The Yellow Jackets took the lead early, scoring the first four goals of the game. Snee scored on an assist by Hsieh 16 seconds into the contest. Hsieh registered a goal three minutes later on an assist from sophomore Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./Woodson) to make it 2-0. Senior Alyssa Chavez (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) and junior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) added goals as R-MC led 4-0 just 5:20 into the game. The Crusaders tallied the next two goals before Hsieh scored again to make it 5-2. After an SU goal, R-MC scored five of the next six goals to push the lead to 10-4 with 11:10 left in the first half. Senior Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) had two of the goals, while Hsieh, Dee and Chavez each added one. The Crusaders scored again before Snee's second goal gave the visitors an 11-5 advantage with 10:00 left in the period. After SU scored to make it 11-6, senior Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods), Hsieh and junior Kelly Barney (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) each netted a goal to push the lead to 14-6 with 5:00 left in the period. Senior Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) followed a Crusader goal with her first score of the half as the Yellow Jackets took a 15-7 lead at intermission.
Jamieson scored the first goal of the second half to give R-MC a 16-7 advantage. SU netted a pair before Snee and sophomore Frankie Willing (Salisbury, Md./Worcester) both scored as the Yellow Jackets built an 18-9 lead with 6:00 left in the contest. The Crusaders had the final four goals of the game as R-MC posted an 18-13 victory.
R-MC dominated draw controls 25-8. Whitman paced all players with 13 draw controls.
The Yellow Jackets held a 38-29 edge in shots, including a one-sided 29-8 advantage in the first half. Hsieh and Jamieson both had eight shots to lead R-MC.
Junior Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) recorded 12 saves for the Yellow jackets, including 11 in the first half.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, April 2, with a 2 p.m. home ODAC contest against Hollins at Day Field.
