Box Score ASHLAND, Va. - Junior Jamie Wilson (West Point, Va./West Point) hit five three-pointers and scored 16 points, one of four Yellow Jackets in double figures, as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team dropped a 76-73 decision to Bridgewater in ODAC action Wednesday evening in Crenshaw Gymnasium.
Junior Michael Taylor (Apex, N.C./Grace Christian) and sophomore Daniel Noe (Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) both had 15 points, while senior Lamont Moore (Waverly, Va./Tidewater Academy) added 14.
The Yellow Jackets (10-9, 6-4 ODAC) scored the first five points of the game on a Wilson three-pointer and a follow by Noe. A layup by Moore capped a 15-2 start for the Yellow Jackets in the first 3:40 of the contest. A layup by junior Boris Ngundji (Richmond, Va./Fuqua) with 11:25 remaining gave the home team a 25-9 advantage. The lead grew to 18 at 31-13 on a layup by freshman Montese Adams (Richmond, Va./Fuqua) with 9:53 left in the first half. The largest lead was 19 at 41-22 with 4:15 left before the Eagles (6-12, 5-5 ODAC) closed the half on a 10-3 run to trail 44-32 at the break. Wilson hit four treys for 12 points, while Noe had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists in the first period for the Yellow Jackets.
Following a BC trey to start the second half, Taylor hit a jumper and a trey as R-MC took a 49-35 lead. The Eagles used a 23-9 run to pull within two at 60-58 with 8:25 remaining. A pair of free throws by Moore and a layup by Taylor pushed the lead to six at 64-58 with under seven minutes remaining. BC scored six straight to knot the score at 64 with 4:55 left. A free throw by Moore gave R-MC a 65-64 lead with 4:29 remaining. The Eagles hit three free throws with 4:15 left to take their first lead at 67-65. A Midulla layup tied it at 67 with 2:28 remaining. Efe Balfour had a follow and a layup at BC took a 71-67 lead with 1:07 left. The Eagles hit three of four free throws to push the lead to 74-68 with 27.4 seconds remaining. Midulla had a layup with 19.8 seconds left to make it 74-70. R-MC took possession on a held ball and Wilson banked in a trey to make it 74-73 with 10.5 seconds left. Logan Seacrist hit a pair of foul shots for BC with 9.7 left to make it 76-73. Wilson missed a three-pointer with two seconds left and BC pulled down the rebound to secure the win.
Wilson had seven assists to go along with his 16 points. Moore and Noe both had six rebounds for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 6, with a 3 p.m. ODAC contest at Eastern Mennonite.
