Wilson Scores 15 as R-MC Falls to Shenandoah

ASHLAND, Va. - Junior Jamie Wilson (West Point, Va./West Point) hit five three-pointers and scored 15 points as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team dropped a 71-59 decision to Shenandoah in ODAC action Wednesday evening in Crenshaw Gym.

The teams traded baskets for the first five minutes. The Yellow Jackets (11-11, 7-6 ODAC) held a 7-5 lead before the Hornets (5-17, 2-11 ODAC) scored 10 straight to take a 15-7 advantage with 11:30 left in the first half. The SU lead grew to 11 at 23-12 with eight minutes left in the period. Sophomore Daniel Noe (Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) and junior Michael Taylor (Apex, NC./Grace Christian) hit consecutive three-pointers as R-MC cut the deficit to five at 30-25 with 6:20 remaining in the half. The Hornets pushed the lead back to 10 at 28-18 before a Wilson three-pointer capped a 6-0 run and made it 28-24 with 2:20 left. Following an SU bucket, freshman Grayson Midulla (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) sank a trey with one minute remaining as the Yellow Jackets trailed 30-27 at the break. Wilson had nine points and Taylor added seven in the first half for R-MC.

Wilson hit a trey to start the second half for the Yellow Jackets to knot the score at 30-30. The Hornets scored eight straight to go ahead 38-30 with 15:50 left. Sophomore Sean Ryan (Plainfield, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) and freshman Grayson Midulla (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) hit back-to-back treys to make it a two-point contest at 38-36 with 14:30 remaining. SU tallied 10 straight points to extend the lead to 48-36 with 11:00 left. R-MC would cut the deficit to seven, but get no closer as SU claimed the 71-59 victory.

Freshman Darryl Williams (Columbia, Md./Glenelg Country) had nine points in 10 minutes for the Yellow Jackets, all in the second half. Freshman Jon Nowell (Riverdale, Ga./Blair Academy) had six points and led the home team with seven rebounds.

Malcolm Clark led the Hornets with 24 points.

Randolph-Macon hits the road and will travel to Guilford for an ODAC match-up on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.
