Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. – The Randolph-Macon volleyball team were defeated by Susquehanna 3-1 in the third game of the Emory Tournament. R-MC (20-6) are now 1-2 in the tournament with a victory over Clarkson and a loss to hosts Emory yesterday.
Freshman Miranda Hall (Mechanicsville, Va./ Hanover) was effective on both offense and defense for the team. Hall tallied a team high 21 kills and added six digs and two blocks.
Susquehanna won the first two sets by a tight margin, winning 26-24.
The third set saw much of the same with both teams unable to put any real runs together. With the score tied at 25 and R-MC facing defeat, the Yellow Jackets would go on to win the next two points, claiming the third set 27-25.
The River Hawks then took the fourth and final set by a score of 25-17.
Junior Erin Quinn (Morrisville, N.C./ Cardinal Gibbons) led the team in assists with 55 in just four sets. She also added 13 digs and one block assists.
R-MC recorded 112 digs in the game. Leading the team was junior Samantha Sallade (Newport News, Va./ Peninsula Catholic) with 35. Also contrribubting were two hitters with junior Rebecca McGilvery (Warrenton, Va./ Kettle Run) digging 23 balls and sophomore Mariah Clark (Stuarts Draft, Va./ Riverheads) in third with 22 digs.
R-MC finished out the Emory Tournament and the regular season schedule when it faces Berry. R-MC will be hosting the quarterfinals of the ODAC tournament on Wednesday, November 2nd at 7 p.m.
