Stanley Snares 20 Saves as R-MC Falls to CNU 2-0

ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, Va./Louisa County) recorded 20 saves as the Randolph-Macon field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to Christopher Newport Wednesday evening at Day Field.

The reigning ODAC Player of the Week, Stanley had 10 saves in each period. She has registered 54 saves in the past three games for the Yellow Jackets (6-3), who had their four-game win streak snapped.

The Captains (5-1) tallied their first goal in the fifth minute and added a second in the 44th minute. CNU held a 29-7 advantage on shots, including 23-3 for shots on goal.

Junior Kaitee Nicholas (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) led the Yellow Jackets with three shots, including two on goal.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 3, for an 11 a.m. ODAC home contest against Eastern Mennonite at 11 am. It will be Family Weekend and the team's Play 4 the Cure game.
