Box Score 2 EMORY, Va. - Freshman Nelda Bagley (Kenbridge, Va./Central) recorded two wins for the second straight day and junior Madison Gilman (Glen Allen, Va./Patrick Henry) had three hits, including two doubles, two runs and one RBI as the Randolph-Macon softball team swept an ODAC doubleheader at Emory & Henry on Sunday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (18-8, 12-6) took the opener 1-0 before posting a 4-3 victory in the nightcap.
Bagley (12-3) went the distance in Game 1 to record the shutout. She allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out 11.
R-MC scored the game's lone run in the top of the fourth. Gilman had a leadoff double, moved to third on a bunt single by junior Katie Woody (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) and scored on a bunt single by freshman Hayden Fontenot (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge).
Junior Sierra Ford (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) had two hits in the opener for the Yellow Jackets.
Bagley tossed two scoreless innings in Game 2 with three hits, one walk and three punchouts. She entered in relief of sophomore Kelsey McLaughlin (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman), who allowed six hits and three runs in five innings with one walk and three strikeouts.
After the Wasps (21-9, 9-9) tallied two in the first, R-MC answered in the second. Gilman had a leadoff single and scored on an error to make it 2-1. Fontenot knocked in freshman Harley Jones (Broadnax, Va./Brunswick) later in the frame to knot the score at 2-2.
E&H reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the second before Woody's RBI single in the third made it a 3-3 contest.
The score stayed there until the seventh. Ford reached on an error to start the inning and senior Sharese Jarvis (Cobbs Creek, Va./Mathews) sacrificed her to second. Gilman doubled to plate Ford with the game-winning run.
Gilman, Woody and freshman Addi Johnson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) each had two hits in the nightcap for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Tuesday, April 14 with a doubleheader at Southern Virginia at 3:30 p.m.
