LYNCHBURG, Va. - Senior Lamont Moore (Waverly, Va./Tidewater Academy) and sophomore Mike Silverthorn (Hackettstown, N.J./Blair Academy) both scored 15 points as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team dropped a 94-77 ODAC decision at Lynchburg Wednesday evening.

Moore had seven rebounds and four assists. Freshman Darryl Williams (Columbia, Md./Glenelg Country) had a perfect shooting night in scoring 12 points, going 5 for 5 from the floor, hitting a three-pointer and making his only free throw. Junior Michael Taylor (Apex, N.C./Grace Christian) added 10 for the Yellow Jackets (1-5, 0-1 ODAC).

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead in the first two minutes as Moore hit a layup and a three-pointer and Taylor hit a pair of 15-ft jumpers. A layup by junior Boris Ngundji (Richmond, Va./Fuqua School) gave R-MC a 15-4 lead four minutes into the contest. The Yellow Jackets were up 25-17 before an 11-2 run by the Hornets (4-2, 1-1 ODAC) gave the home team its first lead at 28-27 with 7:35 left in the first half. R-MC used an 11-1 spurt to take a 38-29 advantage with 4:45 remaining in the period. LC trailed 40-32 before scoring eight straight to tie it at 40 with 1:40 left in the half. Taylor sank a three-pointer with 1:00 left to give R-MC a 45-42 edge. The Hornets hit a free throw with 0.8 seconds left as the Yellow Jackets led 45-43 at the break. Moore had 11 first-half points, while Taylor finished the period with nine.

A three-point play by freshman Darryl Williams (Columbia, Md./Glenelg Country) gave R-MC a 53-50 edge three minutes into the second half. LC used a 21-5 run to take a 71-58 lead with 11:45 remaining. The Yellow Jackets cut the margin to six at 75-69 with 8:30 remaining. A 19-3 run by the Hornets gave them a 94-72 lead before it ended 94-77.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. against Ferrum in Crenshaw Gym.
