BAYAMON, P.R.—Senior Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) led the team with 12 points and tallied three rebounds, two assists and two steals as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team fell 67-49 to Mary Washington Thursday morning in its first game in Puerto Rico.

Senior Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, Va. / Patrick Henry) added nine points, six rebounds and three steals.

The Yellow Jackets (5-3) held an early 3-0 lead before the Eagles (7-1) took control. The score was tied at 8-8 before Livermon nailed a three-pointer to give R-MC the advantage with 4:42 remaining in the first quarter. Mary Washington used an 8-2 spurt to hold a 16-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Eagles scored the first layup of the second quarter to hold a five-point lead before senior Lauren Vugteveen (Midlothian, Va. / Amelia Academy) tallied two free throws to put R-MC within three-points. The Eagles used a 6-0 spurt to extend their lead to 24-15 with 6:45 to play until halftime. Freshman Deja Dennis (Owings Mills, Md. / Western School of Technology and Environmental Science) scored a jumper to cut the Yellow Jackets' deficit to eight points with 2:51 to play. The Yellow Jackets put together a 7-1 run to pull within two points at 30-28 with under a minute remaining until the break. Mary Washington held a 33-28 lead at halftime.

The Eagles extended their lead to begin the third quarter. Livermon made a layup with 6:33 remaining to put R-MC within eight points. Freshman Leara Shumate (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) tallied a layup with under a minute remaining to make the score 50-40. The Eagles maintained a 52-40 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Anderson scored a jumper with 5:43 to play in the fourth quarter to make the score 57-46. The Eagles used a 9-2 spurt to hold its largest lead of the game at 66-48 with 1:55 remaining en route to a 67-49 victory.

Senior Khajae Hester (Virginia Beach, Va. / Cape Henry Collegiate) paced R-MC with six points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Shumate tied her season-high with four points and notched a season-high two steals against the Eagles.

Sophomore Teal Reynolds (Sterling, Va. / Potomac Falls) tied her season-high mark with six rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets return to action in Puerto Rico on Saturday, Dec. 19 against Hartwick at 10 a.m.
