Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Sophomore Victoria Cappadora (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) and freshman Rachel Gist (Suffolk, Va./Kings Fork) both recorded goals as the Randolph-Macon field hockey team was edged 3-2 at Virginia Wesleyan in double overtime Wednesday evening in ODAC action.
Cappadora scored in the ninth minute on an assist by senior Kali Carroll (Earlysville, Va./Albemarle) as the Yellow Jackets (7-6, 1-3 ODAC) led 1-0 at halftime.
After the Marlins (5-9, 1-1 ODAC) tallied a pair of goals early in the second half to take their first lead before Gist scored in the 61st minute to knot the game at 2-2. VWC registered the game-winner in the 86th minute.
VWC held a 27-15 advantage in shots. Senior Mackenzie Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) had five shots, all on goal, and Gist added four shots (two on goal) for the Yellow Jackets.
Sophomore Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, Va./Louisa County) recorded 17 saves for R-MC.
Randolph-Macon hosts Wilson in non-conference action on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m.
