Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon baseball team fell 19-7 this afternoon against Christopher Newport in non-conference baseball action on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.
The Captains (19-12) jumped on the board in the top of the second with five runs on five hits and back-to-back-to-back homeruns. R-MC (16-12) responded with one run after a Sid Harvey (Ashburn, VA / Stone Bridge) (2-for-4, 3 RBI) single through the right side would bring home Nicholas Maiolo (Powhatan, VA / Powhatan) and bring the Jackets within four.
CNU would go on to post three runs in the fourth and advance their lead to 8-1. The Yellow Jackets strung together five runs in the next four innings, only to fall 19-7. R-MC's remaining runs were credited to Mitchell Keeler (Mechanicsville, VA / Atlee) (1-fo-3), Tim Benjamin (Glenelg, MD Glenelg) (2-for-3, 1 RBI), Maiolo, Jordan Schmeer (Richmond, VA / Benedictine)(1-for-2), and Jay Patti (Sparks, MD / Hereford) (1-for-2).
The Randolph-Macon baseball team returns to action this Saturday April 12, as they travel to Emory and Henry for a 12:00 PM ODAC doubleheader. The Yellow Jackets return to Ashland after two mid-week games, to host Guilford for a 1:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday April 19. That Saturday also marks the 2014 Senior Day.
