Box Score 2 EMORY, Va. – Randolph-Macon belted five home runs, including four in the opener, in an ODAC sweep of Emory & Henry at Wasps Field.
The Yellow Jackets (9-5, 3-3) won the opener 14-5 before taking Game 2 by a score of 11-1. Each game was called after five innings.
In the first game, sophomore Sam Moore (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) (2 for 4, 2 R) had a two-run homer in the top of the first. Sophomore Katie Woody (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) (2 for 4, 2 R, 2 RBI) and junior Sharese Jarvis (Cobbs Creek, Va./Mathews) (2 for 3, 2 R) both went deep in the third before a two-run homer by sophomore Christine Simon (Richmond, Va./James River) (2 for 3, 3 R, 3 RBI) capped a 10-run fourth.
Sophomore Jenna Best (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) (5-2, 5 IP, 9 H, 5R, 4 ER, BB, 4 K) earned the victory.
Best had a three-run homer to cap a four-run first in the second game as the Yellow Jackets took control early. Best was 2 for 3 with two runs, while junior Amanda Sopko (Skippers, Va./Greensville) went 3 for 3 with two runs.
Freshman Kelsey McLaughlin (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) (4-3, 5 IP, H, R, 3 BB, 5 K) recorded the win for R-MC.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Thursday, March 27 with a non-conference doubleheader at Methodist at 4 p.m.
