ORLANDO, Fla. – On Nov. 20, the Randolph-Macon
women's lacrosse team was presented the Division III
Community Service Award by the Intercollegiate Women's
Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
The award was given at the 2014 IWLCA Honors Dinner on Day 2 of
the IWLCA-Nike Annual Meeting in Orlando.
R-MC head coach MK Geratowski (pictured on right with Crysti
Foote and Kellie Young of Division I winner Louisville) accepted
the award on behalf of the Yellow Jackets.
The purpose of the Team Community Awareness Award is to
recognize an entire team that has contributed significantly to its
community in a given year.
In October, members of the R-MC women's lacrosse team
participated in the Community Connections Club meeting at Duncan
Memorial Church in Ashland. The Yellow Jackets described the game
of lacrosse, talked about their team and gave a demonstration
before the group members tried some of the equipment.
In 2013, the Yellow Jackets joined the Community Connections
Club for its “Lunch Buddy” program. The ladies assisted
with the group members eating lunch on campus at the Estes Dining
Hall.
