ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Courtney Lowers (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) led all players with 14 kills and 43 total attacks as the Randolph-Macon volleyball team swept Eastern Mennonite in ODAC action Wednesday evening in three games.

The Yellow Jackets (14-6, 7-0 ODAC) took the opener 25-16, pulled out a 25-20 win in Game 2 and completed the sweep with a 25-13 victory in the final game.

R-MC built a 12-6 lead in Game 1 before the Royals (7-16, 0-7) cut the deficit to 12-9. The Yellow Jackets scored nine of the next 12 points to take a 21-12 advantage before posting the 25-16 win.

The second game stayed close, as neither team led by more than five. R-MC led 23-20 before tallying the final two points for a 25-20 win.

The Yellow Jackets owned a slim 8-7 lead in Game 3 before the home team scored seven straight points for a 15-7 lead on its way to a 25-13 victory.

Senior Bailey Troia (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) paced the Yellow Jackets with 12 assists in two games and added five digs. Freshman Erin Quinn (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) had nine assists and four digs in two games, while junior Riley Martin (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) contributed eight assists in two games.

Freshman Rebecca McGilvery (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) led R-MC with 10 digs. She also had four kills and 10 total attacks.

Junior Emily Ortiz (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) had three solo blocks and four assisted blocks for the Yellow Jackets. She also added six kills and 15 total attacks.

Randolph-Macon continues ODAC play with a home match on Friday, Oct. 17 against Shenandoah.
