Box Score 2 SALEM, VA – Roanoke College swept Randolph-Macon Baseball in a doubleheader Saturday evening 6-0 and 8-2. The Yellow Jackets return to Hugh Stephens Field Tuesday, April 2nd when they host Virginia Wesleyan for a 3:30 contest.
Cameron Holshouser tossed six scoreless innings for the Maroons in game one. Holshouser allowed two hits with five walks and six strike outs to pick up the win. Austin Gregory went the final three innings and gave up one hit and struck out five to earn the save.
With Roanoke leading 4-0 in the bottom of the seventh, Bradley Mattox hit a two run homerun to push the advantage to 6-0 which would prove to be the game one final.
Jake Fletcher finished 2-for-3 at the dish for the Yellow Jackets while Tim Benjamin also added a single.
Michael Helbig is stuck with the loss after allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings.
Mark Manthe extended Roanoke's lead to 2-0 in the third inning of game two when he hit a solo homerun.
Randolph-Macon answered in the top of the fifth when Nate Meiners singled home Travis Lodge to halve the deficit.
The Maroons broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth, pushing across five runs on six hits.
R-MC pushed across a run in the eighth but could not rally and RC took game two 8-2.
Mitchell Keeler led the Yellow Jackets at the plate in game two with a 2-for-3 performance. Meiners singled and drove in a run. Jake Bram is saddled with the loss after allowing seven earned runs in four and a third.
Manthe finished 3-for-4 at the plate for Roanoke and drove in four runs. Tyler Grouten allowed no earned runs over six innings to pick up the win.
