ASHLAND, Va. – Juniors Connor Sullivan (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day School) and Marcus Badger (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) both scored 12 as Randolph-Macon defeated Washington and Lee 66-56 Wednesday in ODAC men's basketball action at Crenshaw Gymnasium.

Sullivan hit a three-pointer eight minutes into the game to give the Yellow Jackets (3-3, 1-1) a 15-10 advantage. R-MC led by as many as eight in the first period before taking a 33-27 lead at intermission. Sullivan finished the half with 10 points to lead all scorers.

The Generals (2-4, 1-2) scored the first four points of the second half to cut the deficit to four before a six-point spurt by the Yellow Jackets pushed the margin to 10 at 41-31 with just under 16 minutes remaining. Junior Akeem Holmes (King William, Va./King William) had a tap-in with 13:15 left to give R-MC its largest lead of a dozen at 48-36. The Yellow Jackets were up 11 at 57-46 with just under four minutes remaining before a 5-0 run by W&L made it a six-point game at 57-51 with less than two minutes left in regulation. Badger hit a pair of free throws before a three-pointer by the Generals with 1:20 remaining narrowed the margin to five at 59-54. R-MC hit seven of its final 10 free throws to secure the 66-56 victory. The Yellow Jackets scored their final 11 points from the charity stripe.

Junior Joe Hassell (Portsmouth, Va./Indian River) had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Yellow Jackets.

R-MC will break for final exams before returning to the court on Sunday, Dec. 15, for a 4 p.m. home contest against Catholic at Crenshaw Gymnasium.
