Box Score

ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Will McGhee (Fishersville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield) broke the program record for rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in a season as Randolph-Macon dropped a 28-26 decision to Hampden-Sydney at Day Field.

McGhee carried the ball 38 times for 198 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the season with 1,676 rushing yards, eclipsing the mark of 1,551 set by Zak Thornton in 2007. McGhee had 16 rushing touchdowns, passing the record of 15 set by Remon Smith in 1986.

McGhee's second score was on a two-yard run with 1:35 remaining to pull the Yellow Jackets (7-3, 5-2 ODAC) within two at 28-26. McGhee was stopped short of the goal line on the two-point attempt, giving the win and the ODAC title to the Tigers (8-2, 6-1 ODAC).

Early in the second quarter, McGhee broke through for a 66-yard touchdown run that tied the game at 14. Junior Zac Naccarato (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) hit senior Greg Petrohovich (Richmond, Va./Benedictine) with a 46-yard scoring strike with 5:55 left in the first half to give R-MC its first lead at 20-14. The extra point was missed, keeping the margin at six. The Tigers scored with four minutes left in the second quarter to take a 21-20 lead at the break.

HSC found the end zone midway through the fourth quarter to take a 28-20 advantage.
