Box Score ASHLAND, Va.—Sophomore forward Katherine Schwalen (Currituck, NC / Currituck County) led the Randolph-Macon offense with 2 goals in the Jackets' 3-2 Homecoming victory over Hollins University today in women's soccer play.
In the second minute of the game, forward Meghan O'Neal (Richmond, VA / Mills Godwin) recorded the first Jacket goal on a shot to the upper left of the goal to give R-MC the early edge. Her goal was assisted by midfielder Samantha Tyler (Colonial Heights, VA / Colonial Heights). The second goal was tallied on a header in the 22nd minute by Schwalen. The goal was assisted by Bridget Panas (Goochland, VA / Goochland) and Meghan O'Neal. The final R-MC goal was recorded by Schwalen to raise the Jackets to a 3-0 score going into the half. Her goal was assisted by Jen LaBarge (Gambrills, MD / South River).
Senior goalkeeper Cecilia Quinonez (Arlington, VA / Wakefield) recorded her first win of the season with 1 save on the day.
The Jackets (6-9, 4-6 ODAC) outshot Hollins 15-6 but could not capture the shutout as Hollins tallied 2 goals in the final minutes of the game.
The Randolph-Macon women's soccer team returns home Tuesday, October 22 for their final home game against Randolph College at 4:15 PM.
