Box Score HARRISONBURG, VA -- Two second-half goals in a span of just under nine minutes propelled the Randolph-Macon Field Hockey team to a 2-1 ODAC road victory at Eastern Mennonite.
R-MC is now 2-0 in ODAC play and 3-7 overall. The Royals drop to 2-6 and 1-2 in the league.
Jessica Blanks set up Jenessa Derstine for EMU's lone goal with 23:40 to go in the first-half. The Royals outshot R-MC 13-4 in the first 35 minutes of play to maintain that advantage into the intermission.
Randolph-Macon came out in the second-half and scored just nine minutes in, when Lauren Seal connected with Rachael Gardner who beat EMU keeper Sam Ferrier to knot the game at 1-1.
Carrie Jacobs scored what proved to be the game-winner at the 52 minute mark when she took a pass from Mackenzie Turner and beat Ferrier.
R-MC outshot EMU 16-4 in the second-half to come away with a 20-17 edge for the contest. R-MC had nine penalty corners, including seven in the second stanza.
Nicole Woodworth turned away six shots in the cage for R-MC.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan at 3:30 in Ashland.
