Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Gabby Collins' goal met the back of the cage with just 10 seconds left to lift the Seahawks to a 2-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets. R-MC falls to 2-7 overall while the Seahawks improve to 5-3.
Olivia Edwards scored the first goal of the match off a pass from Katie Weller to give SMC the early 1-0 lead.
The score would remain 1-0 in the Seahawks favor until sophomore Mackenzie Turner scored the tying goal at the 55 minute mark.
With just seconds left on the clock, Collins struck the go-ahead goal to capture the victory for the Seahawks.
Goalkeeper Nicole Woodworth took the loss for the Yellow Jackets, playing all 70 minutes and recording nine saves on the night.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on the 29th against ODAC opponent Eastern Mennonite. The match is set for a 1:00 p.m. start.
