Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Olivia Newman's goal propelled the Yellow Jackets to a 1-0 victory over ODAC opponent, Washington & Lee. The Yellow Jackets record a second straight victory to improve to 1-0 in ODAC play and 2-6 overall.
The Yellow Jackets best scoring opportunities came when R-MC was awarded multiple penalty corners at the end of the first half. Newman's go-ahead goal was scored on the third corner that was taken by sophomore Carrie Jacobs.
R-MC controlled the match, recording 25 shots to the Generals six and held a 19-6 edge in penalty corners. Rachael Gardner and Jenna Marlette paced the attack with seven shots each.
Nicole Woodworth took the win in goal for the Yellow Jackets, allowing no goals and recorded seven total saves.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on September 25th against St. Mary's at 4 p.m.
