Box Score ASHLAND, VA – R-MC records its first win of the 2012 season, courtesy of sophomore Rachael Gardner's golden goal in overtime on Wednesday afternoon. Gardner notched her second goal of the season en route to the 1-0 victory.
With two scoreless, 35-minute halves in the books, both teams prepared for overtime. Gardner's unassisted goal in the 74th minute would end the match in R-MC's favor.
Randolph-Macon controlled the offensive end with 19 total shots over Wilson's 10 and 18 penalty corners over Wilson's eight. Gardner and Mackenzie Turner each notched three shots on goal each.
Goalkeeper Nicole Woodworth played all 74 minutes, allowing no Wilson goals and recorded seven saves on the night.
The women will return to R-MC on September 21st against Washington & Lee at 4 p.m.
