Box Score ASHLAND,VA – Kelly Egan and Emily Lynch each scored five goals as the Randolph-Macon Women' s Lacrosse team opened up the 2012 season with a 15-12 victory over Methodist.
Lynch also grabbed three ground balls and three draw controls, while Egan snared four draw controls and a ground ball.
R-MC (1-0) also got a hat trick from Audrey Hester, who dished out three assists in the victory. Betsy Hebert scored a pair of goals in her first collegiate game. Nicole Woodworth made 17 saves in the cage for R-MC.
Lynch and Hebert gave R-MC an early 2-0 lead. The two teams would then trade goal-for-goal for the remainder of the half with the Jackets leading 6-5 at the break.
Egan helped R-MC stretch its lead to 9-5 by scoring three goals in the first 4:15 of the second stanza.
After a Jessie Earp tally for MU cut the R-MC lead to 9-6, Randolph-Macon went on a 3-0 run with Hester scoring twice and Lynch tallying one goal to help push the Yellow Jackets lead to 12-6.
MU rallied, scoring three goals of its own to pull within three at 12-9, but that would be as close as it would get as Lynch scored back-to-back goals in part of 3-0 run to put R-MC up 15-9.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on March 3rd when it hosts Trinity at 1:00 p.m.
