Box Score ASHLAND, VA -- R-MC posted three second half goals as it defeated Shenandoah, 3-2 Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va. The win pushed the women's record to 8-9, 6-1 in ODAC play, while the Hornets dropped to 9-7, 3-4 in the conference.
The Yellow Jackets fell behind early on a Presha Merritt score in the 28th minute. The Hornet's held the advantage for the rest of the period.
SU doubled its lead in the second stanza when Hannah Johnson rattled the cage with her unassisted goal in the 41st minute.
The Yellow Jackets came storming back 10 minutes later, scoring three straight goals to take the lead.
Sophomore Catherine Pricone scored first to bring the Yellow Jackets within one off a Lauren Seal assist.
Olivia Newman found Seal eight minutes later to even the score at two. In the 63rd minute, Newman scored what proved to be the game winning goal off a corner taken by Carrie Jacobs.
Seal picked up her team-high eighth assist, ranking her second in the ODAC in that category. Jacobs is ranked third in the conference in goals and assists.
Senior Nicole Woodworth picked up the victory in goal for the Yellow Jackets, recording 11 saves. She sits first in the ODAC in saves with 195, four saves better than her previous single season high.
Shenandoah outshot Randolph-Macon, 15-11, but the Yellow Jackets held an 11-6 edge in penalty corners.
R-MC concludes its regular season on Wednesday, October 24th they travel to Roanoke College. Game time is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
