Box Score FROSTBURG, Md--- Randolph-Macon defeated Frostburg State, 4-1 Wednesday evening. The women improved to 2-2 on the season, while the Bobcats fell to 1-3.
Lauren Seal led the Yellow Jackets with two goals on the evening. The sophomore from Orange County got the scoring started just over ten minutes into the first stanza and R-MC never looked back. Carrie Jacobs scored her second goal of the season less than two minutes later.
Five minutes into the second half, Meredith Young found the back of the cage to give Randolph-Macon a three goal lead. However, Beckey Randel scored off a corner to give Frostburg State hope. Seal then added her second marker of the night off an assist from Jacobs to put things away for good.
R-MC dominated throughout the game, outshooting the Frostburg State, 27-5. The women also held a 14-8 advantage in penalty corners.
Seal, last year's VaSID Rookie of the Year, and last season's second-leading scorer, totaled seven shots, five on goal for the contest including her first two goals of the year. She also has two assists on the young season. Young added five shots on goal for the game.
Maggie Edwards registered 13 saves in goal for the Bobcats, while Nicole Woodworth picked up three saves on the evening to earn her second victory of the year.
The women return to play this weekend, Friday September 9th as they travel to Salisbury, MD to take part in the Salisbury University Field Hockey Invitational. The Yellow Jackets open up play against the host squad, Salisbury, Friday at 6:30 p.m.
