Box Score ASHLAND, Va--- R-MC topped Roanoke, 2-0 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon. The women improved to 7-6, 4-1 in ODAC play, while the Maroons fell to 4-10, 2-3 in the conference.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets improved their winning streak over RC to eight games. Roanoke holds a 31-24-2 edge in the all-time series. The victory kept Randolph-Macon in at least a tie for second place in the ODAC standings at the moment.
R-MC's lone senior Laurel Martin was honored prior to the game for her efforts and accomplishments in a Yellow Jacket uniform. During her four years on campus Martin has accumulated a record of 37-33, 18-7 in ODAC play, the winningest record for a graduating senior in over 10 years.
After a scoreless first half, Lauren Seal scored the eventual game-winner from the right side of the box in the 46th minute. Just under 20 minutes later, Mikalea Rumley found a streaking Carrie Jacobs down the middle of the field to give the final score.
Seal and Jacobs both scored their team-best seventh goals of the year. The game-winner was Seal's third on the season.
Meredith Young and Seal led the Yellow Jackets with four shots on the day. All four of Seal's attempts were on goal. Kelly Finn paced the Maroons with three shots, all on goal.
The matchup between RC and R-MC featured two of the top goalkeepers in the conference. Cristina Scichilone took the loss in goal for the Maroons, totaling 11 saves on the day. Nicole Woodworth picked up the victory and recorded eight saves on the afternoon. Woodworth (136) now leads Scichilone (129) by just seven saves for the most in the ODAC.
Randolph-Macon outshot Roanoke, 19-9 in the contest, including a 13-9 edge in shots on goal. The Maroons finished with a perfect SOG%. The Yellow Jackets also held an 8-6 advantage in penalty corners.
R-MC returns to action Wednesday, October 19th as they host Bridgewater College. The match is set for a 4:00 p.m. start.
