Box Score ASHLAND, VA - Randolph-Macon racked
up 554 yards of total offense and held on to the ball for over 39
minutes as the Yellow Jackets topped visiting Catholic 56-28 in
ODAC Football action on Saturday in Ashland.
R-MC, which is currently ranked No.
23 in the AFCA Coaches' Poll and No. 24 in the D3footbll.com poll,
is now 6-0 overall for the first time since 1970 and improves to
2-0 in the ODAC. R-MC's 56 points is the highest
tally for the Yellow Jackets since 1985 when
they scored 73 points in a win over
Maryville.

Sanders ran for 141 yards and two touchdowns, while his counterpart
Will McGhee
ran for 109 yards on 18 carries. R-MC had 293 yards on the ground
as a team in the win.
Randolph-Macon quarterback Austin
Faulkner was 19-of-29 for 231 yards and a score through the air and
he also had three rushing touchdowns on the day. Faulkner connected
with seven different receivers, led by Earl Peoples who
had 151 yards on 10 catches.
On its second possession of the
contest, Catholic (2-4 / 0-2 ODAC) drove into Jackets'
territory before the drive stalled on the 24 yard line. The
Cardinals looked to be attempting a field goal, but instead they
attempted a fake, which they did not convert to give R-MC the ball
back.
Randolph-Macon took advantage,
driving 76 yards on 13 plays to pay dirt. Dan Crouch put R-MC
on the board with 3:42 remaining in the first quarter when Faulkner
found him on a play action pass for a three-yard score.
On its next possession, R-MC drove
81 yards on 11 plays, capping the drive with a one-yard touchdown
plunge by Faulkner to go up 14-0. Faulker then extended the
advantage to 21-0 on another one-yard score the next time the
Jackets had the ball.
Randolph-Macon took a 28-0
advantage to the locker room after Brandon
Harrison picked off CUA quarterback Greg Cordivari and returned
the ball 52 yards for a touchdown.
R-MC took the opening possession of
the second half and promptly drove 60 yards on seven plays with
Sanders capping off the drive with a one-yard plunge of his own,
putting his team up 35-7 with 11:40 to go in the third quarter.
After Cordivari and Alonzo Cooke
hooked up on a 23-yard scoring strike to cut the R-MC lead to 35-7,
the Jackets' took its ensuing possession and drove 72 yards on nine
plays, with Sanders capping the drive with four yard scamper to
effectively seal the game for Randolph-Macon.
Mike Pitsenberger paced the CUA
offense with 91 yards on 20 carries, while Cordivari was 17-of-43
for 308 yards, three scores and two interceptions on the day. Cooke
finished the day with 207 receiving yards on seven catches, which
included two scores.
The R-MC defense was led by Andrew Leonard who had nine tackles and a pass break
up, while Jeremy Bowry had
seven stops and Trey Haddon had
six.
Randolph-Macon will be back in
action next Saturday at Washington and Lee. Kickoff is slated for
1:00 p.m. in Lexington.
