Box Score Freshman Mikalea Rumley tallied her first career hat-trick as
Randolph-Macon Field Hockey (9-4 / 3-0 ODAC) shutout Sweet Briar
College 8-0 in Amherst on Sunday. The Yellow Jackets have won their
last nine contests and will host Lynchburg College on Tuesday,
October 12th at 4:00.
Lauren Seal opened up the R-MC attack with an unassisted goal
just six minutes in. Rumley rattled the cage 30 seconds later on a
pass from Seal to give the Yellow Jackets an early 2-0
advantage.
Randolph-Macon extended their advantage to 4-0 before halftime
on another Seal goal and Melanie Graham capitalizing on a penalty
stroke.
Audrey Hester and Mikalea Rumley scored two goals apiece in the
second half as the Yellow Jackets pulled away for the 8-0 ODAC
win.
R-MC keeper Nicole Woodworth stopped two shots to earn the
shutout and Steph Talley made one save in relief.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Vixens 30-7 and held a 12-5
penalty corner advantage.
Randolph-Macon will face off against Lynchburg College Tuesday,
October 12th at 4:00 in Ashland.
