VWC Takes 8-6 ODAC Win over R-MC Baseball in Last
At-Bat
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA -- Mike McCutcheon's homerun in the bottom of
the ninth inning propelled Virginia Wesleyan to an 8-6 ODAC
baseball win over Randolph-Macon on Tuesday in Virginia Beach.
R-MC (11-16 / 6-6 ODAC) jumped out to an early lead on RBI
singles by JC Conway and Jay Lichter to give the Jackets a 2-0 edge
in the second inning.
VWC scored four runs over the next two innings to take a 4-2
lead, before R-MC rallied for three runs of its own in the top of
the fourth inning, with the big hit coming off the bat to of Greg
Mitro who provided a two-out single to score Lichter and Jeff Beck
to give R-MC a 5-4 lead.
The Marlins battled back again scoring a pair of runs in the
bottom half of the sixth, to retake the lead at 6-5.
The game remained that way until the top of the eighth when
Charlie Hartt connected for his sixth homerun of the season to tie
the game at six.
