Peyster's Ninth Inning Homer Bounces R-MC Baseball From
ODAC Tournament

LYNCHBURG, VA -- Byron Peyster's two run homerun in the ninth
inning broke a tie and sent Washington and Lee to an 8-6 victory
over Randolph-Macon in an elimination game of the 2009 ODAC
Baseball Tournament.
Washington and Lee used three runs in its initial at bat before
R-MC rallied for a pair of runs in its first at bat of the day.
Single runs by the Generals in the second, third and fourth
innings put W&L up 6-2 heading into bottom of the fifth inning.
The Jackets then rallied to tie the game with four runs, getting
three hits, and capitalizing on key error by the Generals.
The game stayed that way until the ninth when Hunter Serenbetz
singled with one out, setting the stage for Peyster's heroics.
Brendan Clark got the win for Washington and Lee after allowing
just two hits in 4.2 innings of work out of the pen. Brian Jordan
was saddled with the tough loss, allowing just three hits in his
4.1 innings.
Jay Lichter paced R-MC with three hits on the day, while Kevin
Davis and Adam Carpenter each had a pair of hits as well
Randolph-Macon is now 18-19 on the year and will travel to St.
Mary's of Maryland on Wednesday.
