Randolph-Macon Takes Out Roanoke 5-1
ASHLAND,
VA-Meredith Young's goal in the ninth minute proved to be
the game winner as Randolph-Macon Field Hockey downed Roanoke 5-1
in Ashland Saturday.
Kendall Lam started the scoring for
the Yellow Jackets in the 3rd minute when she netted a pass from
Young.
Young extended the lead to 2-0 with
an unassisted goal in the ninth minute.
The Maroons got back in the game
when Mariah Vietri scored unassisted in the 18th minute,
cutting the lead to 2-1.
R-MC came out of halftime firing
with Mary McCarthy netting a goal in the 38th minute.
Monica Jenkins pushed the lead to
4-1 when she took a pass from McCarthy and rattled the cage.
McCarthy scored her second goal of
the game in the 66th minute to make the final 5-1.
Randolph-Macon outshot Roanoke
32-10 and edged the Maroons 19-5 in penalty corners.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in
action Sunday, October 11th when they travel to
Shenandoah for a 12:00 p.m. game.
