ASHLAND, VA - Behind 16 hits including two homeruns from Charlie
Hartt, the Randolph-Macon College baseball team picked up a 9-5
ODAC win over Virginia Wesleyan College on Wednesday afternoon in
Ashland.
Hartt put R-MC (16-10 / 9-2 ODAC) on top 1-0 in the second
inning with a solo blast. After VWC plated three runs in the next
half inning, Hartt cut the Marlin advantage to 3-2 with one out on
his seventh homerun of the season.

starter Daniel Samuels from the game. JC Conway and Bruno Gora then
greeted Marlin reliever David Imperato with back-to-back singles
that loaded the bases. Wallace came across the plate to tie the
game at 3-3 on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jay Lichter.
After Ryan Dickerson singled to load the bases again, Kevin
Davis walked to put the Jackets up 4-3 and Adam Carpenter singled
home Gora to give R-MC a two-run advantage. '
The Yellow Jackets put a pair of runs on the board in the fifth
and the sixth inning to push their lead to 9-3 before VWC rallied
in the seventh off R-MC reliever Nick Simons, scoring a run to make
the score 9-4. With the bases loaded and one out, Josh Ellwood came
out of the bullpen for the Jackets and struck out Hilton
Ianniciello and Adam Marx to preserve the lead for R-MC.
Kurt Breitmeyer went five innings to pick up the win for
Randolph-Macon. The southpaw allowed three runs on five hits and
struck out a pair to improve his record to 2-1 on the season.
Ellwood earned the save tossing 2.2 innings, allowing just one run
on two hits and punching out two.
Imperato took the loss for VWC after going just one third of an
inning, allowing the go ahead run to score in the third inning.
