R-MC Baseball Sweeps ODAC Doubleheader from Roanoke

SALEM VA .- The Randolph-Macon College baseball team swept an
ODAC doubleheader at Roanoke College on Sunday, winning game one by
the score of 11-4, while taking the night cap 10-9.
With the wins, R-MC now stands at 11-7 overall and 4-0 in the
ODAC. Roanoke falls to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the league.
In game one, the Jackets used a seven run, seventh inning to
break open the game, taking an 11-2 advantage. The big hit of the
inning came off the bat of JC Conway who launched a three run
homerun with two outs.
Charlie Hartt picked up the victory for R-MC on the mound after
starting and going 5.2 innings, allowing six hits and two runs,
while striking out three to even his record at 1-1 on the season.
In game two, the Yellow Jackets led 8-2 heading into the bottom
of the eighth inning before the Maroons struck for six runs on
three round trippers to tie the game at 8-8.
In the top half of the ninth, Mike Wallace singled to lead off
the inning and stole second with one out. Conway then delivered his
second homerun of the day to put R-MC back on top 10-8.
RC rallied for a run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth,
but Dillon Sheads got Noah Davidson to ground out with a runner at
second base to end the game and give R-MC the win.
Sheads picked up the win in relief after going 1.1 innings,
giving up two hits, one run and striking out two to improve to 3-0
on the year.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Wednesday when it
welcomes Eastern Mennonite University for a 3:00 p.m. ODAC game.
