As a junior (2014): Schwalen appeared in 18 games with seven starts in her third season as a forward for R-MC...She tallied three goals (fourth on the team) and 12 shots on the season...Schwalen ranked second on the team with a shot percentage of .250 and third on the team with a shot on goal percentage of .667...Katie was named to the ODAC All-Academic Team for her accomplishments in the classroom.
As a sophomore (2013): Schwalen played in 17 games, earning 15 starts as a Yellow Jacket forward…In her second season, she was named Second Team All-ODAC recording a team-high four goals on 27 attempts and 15 shots-on-goal (.556)…She also tallied two game-winning goals and one assist.
As a freshman (2012): Schwalen made an appearance, earning 13 starts at the midfield position for the Yellow Jackets...She tallied one goal off of five shots on goal...Katie earned the Rookie of the Year team award.
Personal: Schwalen attended Currituck County High School where she earned three varsity letters in soccer, cross country, indoor track and outdoor track...She helped lead her team to a 2011 conference championship title in soccer, back-to-back conference champions in outdoor track, and three time conference champion title in cross country...She also earned All Conference (2010, 2012), team MVP, All Region Advance Women's Soccer Player of the Year (2012) in soccer, All Conference (2010) in cross country, state qualifier in 300m and 4x800m relay in indoor track, and 200m conference champion (2011) in outdoor track...Katie was also named to the Currituck County High School Honor Roll (2008-2012), member of Beta Club, graduated with honors and was ranked 10th in her class...She intends to major in Political Science.
