How It Happened
- Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) was hit by his second pitch as RMC's first batter of the bottom of the first. Zach Wernoski (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) followed with an infield single to shortstop, before Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) replicated the same hit, pushing Bowles home for a 1-0 lead. Logan Duff (Forest, Va./Liberty Christian) was able to drive Wernoski home for the Yellow Jackets' second run on a ground ball to shortstop.
- The Quakers got on the board in the top of the fourth, as they used a single and double in the gap to get runners on second and third. The next batter walked to load the bases, allowing a fielder's choice to get one run across. With two outs, back-to-back walks tied the game, 2-2.
- Schmitt started the offense again in the bottom of the sixth with a base on balls. On a hit-and-run, Duff laced a double to the right-center gap, driving Schmitt in to capture a 3-2 advantage.
- Stolze was hit by a pitch to get RMC a baserunner in the bottom of the eighth. James Baffone (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) took his spot with a fielder's choice, before Caleb Hawton-Henley (Fairfax, Va./St. John's Prep) was hit by a pitch as a pinch hitter. Once a wild pitch put Jackets on second and third, a double from Justin Lanouette (Chantilly, Va./Freedom) gave RMC two insurance runs and a 5-2 edge.
